The Undisputed Cup Series is down to the final 5 competitors for the inaugural title fight. None of the five were able to win in the round of 10, so each driver comes into Phoenix with 3,000 points each. We’re going to do a quick profile on each driver ahead of the first race, in numerical order.
#5 Jason Bottoms

Wins: 1
Top 5s: 5
Top 10s: 11
Average Finish: 9.5
Jason has been a wildcard this season, as he always has great pace, but sometimes mistakes derail a solid run. His one win came on a shorter track making him a favorite to run strong at Phoenix and kick off his run for the championship. At Talladega Jason is always a threat to have speed, but you can say that for all 5 drivers. The biggest factor will be how he can run at Homestead, a track where he has struggled as of late.
#9 Cody Dorsey

Wins: 2
Top 5s: 9
Top 10s: 14
Average Finish: 5.7
Cody enters this round coming off a strong season thus far. He has the best average finishing position, was the Regular Season Champion, and had a commanding lead through the round of 10. He will look to continue his strong run this season, but he will need to survive the potential chaos looming at Talladega.
#19 Kyle Schmitz

Wins: 1
Top 5s: 9
Top 10s: 13
Average Finish: 6.2
Kyle Schmitz has had a sneaky good season so far and he may continue to try flying under the radar on his quest for championship glory. Kyle slowly gained his way into being firmly in contention for the Regular Season Championship, just falling a few points, and two corners, short of winning those precious bonus points. He might just be the favorite to win it all.
#25 Dakota Bleigh

Wins: 0
Top 5s: 8
Top 10s: 14
Average Finish: 6.5
After a strong regular season which saw 13 consecutive top 10s and falling just two points short of the Regular Season Championship, Dakota stumbled through the round of 10. Posting finishes of 10th at Bristol, 14th at the Roval, and 11th at Michigan, he was bailed out by misfortune for other drivers. He’ll need to get a strong run at Phoenix to have a chance in this fight. He’s only ever won plate races so he’ll be circling Talladega as a goal to separate himself from his peers.
#77 Alex Bonsignore

Wins: 0
Top 5s: 6
Top 10s: 9
Average Finish: 7.6
As the underdog in this title fight, the Viking Motorsports paint Alex runs every week is fitting. Alex will look to scrap his way to the front and pull off the upset. Alex always has strong pace, but similar to Jason, he sometimes finds himself making mistakes, or getting caught up in someone else’s, when it matters most. Alex is more than capable of locking in for the next three weeks and had his strongest run on a track similar to Phoenix early this season as well. A strong start could make a huge difference!
