The rolling hills and technical corners of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course set the stage for Week 3 of the Sunday Night Skip Barber F4 league. Known for its unforgiving layout, blind apexes, and relentless elevation changes, Mid-Ohio always demands focus and respect. With its narrow racing line and limited overtaking zones, the 3.56-kilometer circuit punishes mistakes and rewards smooth driving—a challenge the SNSB drivers faced head-on last Sunday night.
But as the field took to the iconic Ohio track, the story line wasn’t just about speed. For the second race in a row, the series witnessed a dramatic airborne incident. This raised the stakes, and fueled driver concerns about safety and aggressive racing. With championship points and pride on the line, tension was high. Mid-Ohio delivered a race that tested both skill and nerve.
Lap 2 Early Carnage

The #25 of Charlie Hutto and the #41 of Chris Sanchez went wheel to wheel in a tense battle. Contact between them caused Sanchez to spin. He spun directly into the path of Steven Neal’s #45. The result was a spectacular wreck that brought out gasps from the virtual crowd.

Lap 3 Improper Etiquette?
On Lap 3, Team Improper experienced a heart-stopping moment. Teammates Jake Achée and Thomas Fotos nearly came together in a tense exchange. The close call left team principals holding their breath. The pair narrowly avoided disaster in the early stages of the race.

Grip? What Grip?
Even at the front of the field, control was far from guaranteed. Several top-tier drivers struggled to keep their cars planted, a clear sign that Mid-Ohio was taking no prisoners this week.

Close Call #1: Othon’s Long Day Begins
On Lap 6, Joe Zubo lost control exiting the corner, sliding directly into the path of Michael Othon. Othon’s lightning reflexes allowed him to narrowly avoid disaster. However, it was only the first of several close calls. These instances would test his luck throughout the race.

Nowhere to Hide: Lap 24 Stack-Up Ends Othon’s Run
By Lap 24, Michael Othon’s luck finally ran out. A sudden check-up ahead involving Matt Schofield and Andrew Hendrycks forced Othon to slam on the brakes. There was no escaping the chaos this time. Peter Lee, just behind, had nowhere to go. He piled into the back of Othon and ended the streak of narrow escapes with a heavy collision.

The Barrel Roll Heard ‘Round Mid-Ohio
Lap 30 delivered one of the most terrifying incidents of the race. The #317 of Ryan Taylor clipped the curbing and slid sideways, directly into the path of Mike Baures in the #76. The impact launched Baures skyward in a violent crash that sent his car into multiple barrel rolls. Drivers on track and fans watching held their breath, hoping for the safety of the stricken #76.

Mann Wins Big, Miles and Ovtcharov Duel Late
Colby Mann continued his perfect start to the season, claiming victory at Mid-Ohio with commanding style. The championship contender has two wins from two starts. He crossed the line more than nine seconds ahead of Adam Miles. Behind them, Leo Ovtcharov impressed in his SNSB F4 debut with a new car but the same old speed. He stayed in the fight for P2 before ultimately settling for third. Miles held off Ovtcharov in a tight battle to the finish, sealing the second step on the podium.
